As we begin 2012, we reflect on a year of tremendous worldwide trouble - economies crumbling, governments falling compounded by ecological and natural disasters.  And for some of us the pain and loss of loved ones hits home and all too clearly we begin to see that in the light of eternity, many of the things that we pursue have little if any eternal value.  We must refocus and follow the command of God's word to "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness" (Matthew 6:33a)

Even in the midst of the storms of life, with Jesus we can smile at the storm.  It is then with great expectation that we look forward to the triumphant return of Christ and the consummation of all things, where the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our Lord (Revelations 11:15).

In light of the truth and unfailing word of God let us all "lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us.  Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us..." (Hebrew 12:1)

For this new year 2012, I pray that we so live and abide in his word, that God would consider us  true worshipers not hindered by the things of this world, as God seeks those who will worship in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24).
