Long before I was a pastor, George Lyons and I were original members of the Kings Melodiers.  We have sung the praises of God together for over 50 years, and now we have recorded a few of our favorites to share with you.

Reach Out - help someone in need.

Financial constraints are probably the number one reason for not helping those in needy, especially when we are focused on our own needs.

Lets take a page out of the book of (2 Corinthians 8) - The Macedonians were a people who had serious needs, yet when they herd of the needs of their brethren in Jerusalem, they dug deep and did more than you or I would probably  expect or do.

The result of this gift was an unprecedented outpour of thanksgiving and praise to God, and the aftermath was a contagious outbreak of giving among the churches; as they sought to glorify God in their giving.

Our giving is also our opportunity to bring glory to God, so give generously.

See lesson study on Christian giving.

In order to get back into right relationship and enjoy true and meaningful fellowship with God, man has to be “Born again”, that is “born from above” or “born of the spirit” and as Jesus told Nicodemus, it is imperative, it is a must.  Unlike Nicodemus, we know it is not a matter of reentering out mothers womb and be reborn, but because of the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ, we can be cleansed from our sins and be back in fellowship with God.  First John chapter one verse nine (1 Jn 1:9) tells us how this cleansing can come about.

Next time in part 2 we will look at how sin should be dealt with.  Till then your Pastor.

(Pastor H. Condison)

Please continue to pray for this ministry.  We as a congregation are striving to reach the lost for Christ and to reach the next level of commitment and service.

Our desires have been met with strong spiritual opposition, Satan and his host are resisting any movement in the direction God would have us go.

Yet despite these setbacks, God remains faithful, and we continue to see the unchangeable nature and power of God.  In this we are greatly encouraged, and likewise encourage you to keep on keeping on.

We have the victory in Jesus Christ.

The Problem of Sin – Part 1

One definition of sin is “any lack of conformity to the will of God.” When the word SIN  (bamastia) is used in the new Testament the general meaning is “to miss the mark” and the mark it misses is God.  In Psalm 51 verse 4 David stated that his sin was against God.  The implication here is that although our sin may involve other people, ultimately our sin is against God.

What happens when I sin?  The fellowship God wants to maintain with is broken and the potential he has for my life is missed.  When we sin all our decisions and actions go of target from what God desire for us.  As David Mckenna states “Sin alienates us from God and leaves unable to do his will.”

Sin originated in the Garden of Eden when Eve yielded to the temptation of Satan and disobeyed God.  As a result of this first human act of disobedience the entire earthly environment was polluted and the sweet fellowship that Adam and Eve had with their Creator was lost.  Consequently all humans, born into this world, come under the curse of Sin.  As David stated in Psalm 51 verse 5 “I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me.”

The statement of David is universal in its application (Rom 3:23).  Since that fateful day in the Garden we have all come into the world with sinful natures.  As a result we have all been alienated from God naturally.
